Local Honey

There has been much interest in the reputed properties of honey for the treatment of hay fever.  The theory is that local honey, that has not been over-processed, will contain the same pollen as that which is causing an allergic reaction. By regularly taking small amounts of honey, immunity will be achieved. Honey also tastes delicious!

Consequently, requests for suppliers of ‘local’ honey are regularly received.   Unfortunately, the data protection laws prevent us from providing details directly to enquirers. Although interest in honey is welcomed, the task of contacting beekeepers to see if they can supply honey is becoming rather onerous.

In future, beekeepers who have honey for sale will be invited to provide their contact details, which can be published on this web site.  Watch this space!

The weather last year was not ideal for honey production – this year has not started well. There are also problems with bee health and many colonies have died or are weak. There is likely to be a shortage of honey – at least for the time being.
